1. Material Selection: Prioritize Safety and Compliance
PCR reagents are typically sensitive to temperature, humidity, and light, so packaging materials must possess high barrier properties. We recommend using sturdy corrugated paper for the outer box, lined with moisture-proof aluminum foil or EPE foam to ensure light and shock protection. For reagents requiring low-temperature transportation, use dry ice or phase change material (PCM) for temperature control, and label the outer box with "Fragile" and "Keep Cold" to comply with international transportation standards (such as IATA).
2. Structural Design: Shockproofing and Space Optimization
PCR tubes and plates are prone to breakage due to impact and must be individually compartmentalized and secured. Customized silicone molds or sponge grooves can be used to prevent movement during transportation. When packaging multiple products, arrange them in layers to minimize sway. Furthermore, the outer box dimensions should conform to mainstream logistics standards (such as UPS and DHL's preferred dimensions) to reduce additional shipping costs.
3. Labeling and Documentation: Clarity and Compliance Matter
The exterior of the packaging should be clearly labeled with the product name, batch number, storage conditions (e.g., -20°C), and emergency contact information. Include instructions in multiple languages (e.g., English and Spanish), along with a test report (COA), MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet), and other documentation to meet regulatory requirements in markets such as the EU and North America.
4. Logistics Testing: Simulating Extreme Environments
It is recommended to conduct drop tests (ISTA 3A standards) and temperature and humidity cycling tests before mass production to verify the packaging's reliability during long-distance transportation. For high-temperature regions such as Southeast Asia and the Middle East, additional insulation layers should be added.
